New DR. is wonderful:)

Okay I went to see the Dr last week and he gave me a lot of information which is kind of Greek to me but maybe some of you might understand it. He did a test called CA-125 and the levels for it was 73, he said normal is below 35. Also they tested a gene called BRCA 1 and he says it is abnormal. They also did a vaginal ultrasound and somehow through that the dr has decided it is cancer, but it is Stage 1 ovarian cancer, but it is not metastic. He says the tumors are Epithelial(sp), which is the most common type. I don't think I really understand all this but the dr is so very thorough. He did not explain things in a way that we can understand but, he is very nice and spent time on making sure that we are okay with all of this. He did a biopsy on Friday and it has made me really sore, but he thinks that all we will need is to take the ovaries and tubes out and then check the levles using the CA-125 test. I just thought I would I give everbody an update.

New DR. is wonderful:)

Hi Dawn!!
Isn't it great when you like your Doctor? Thats wonderful that he took the time with you and explained things even though it was alot of medical terminology, but the fact that he spent alot of time with you is great.

Dawn, the CA125 test has been discussed here very often, and if you do a search on the site using CA125 as a keyword, you should find alot of posts where its been talked about. Several of the ladies here are tested with that one.

I am tested with the Beta or LDH one myself.

You sound good today Dawn, sounds like Dr. Wonderful, put your mind at ease a bit for you. Thats great!!
Hang in there, and know that we are here for you every step of the way!!

New DR. is wonderful:)

I'm so glad that you like your doctor too, but please don't hesitate to tell him when you don't understand something that he explains to you. This is your body and you need to understand everything, even if the doctor has to draw you a picture! We are all more than happy to help you in anyway, but we are not doctors and don't know your past health. When it comes to support or experiences, we are right there!
