So happy with my da Vinci Hysterectomy
I first came to this site for answers before my surgery. My fibroids were too big for the LAHV and I live a very active lifestyle and did not want to be on the couch for weeks.
It is now 8 weeks since my surgery and I could not be happier.
I had my surgery on a Tuesday, was able to go home that night, I was up walking around once I was home. The one mistake I made was taking the pain medication. That made me feel worse than anything else.
I also think that it took a few days to get the anesthesia out of my system.
I had my uterus and my ovaries removed. I left the cervix because my doctor said the healing time would be faster and it was. I left the hospital without any restrictions except for driving. I think that was more because of the drugs than any physical limitation.
I was left with 4 incisions, that were sutured with dissolving stiches and glue. At my two week check up the doctor said I could remove the glue, they are healing nicely and I am sure that they will not be noticeable over time.
I did have some slight discomfort and Advil was all I needed. Once I got home that night I started taken metamucil because I knew the medication was going to effect by BM's and that was helpful.
I got on the eliptical machine on Saturday for 10 minutes, I did not want to over do it. Within 1 week I was doing anything I wanted, but still taking it slow. Week 3 I flew to Chicago for the first time and walked miles and miles taking in all the sites, danced all night at I wedding I attended.
I spotted just a little the first week and then a little more the second week. Then nothing.
Only issue I am having is hot flashes.
If you have to have a hysterectomy the da Vinci is the way to go in my opinion.
