Anyone had Ixempra and Avastin (& Carboplatin)

I'm still in the clinical drug trial of Carboplatin, Avastin and Ixempra. I'd love to share notes with anyone who has had either/or Avastin &/or Ixempra.

I sure as heck hope this stuff is doing some good. I go Monday for chemo #4 out of 6. Not looking forward to it. It's rough.

I don't have any chemo experience, but I wanted to send some hugs and positive vibes your way for your upcoming treatment.

I had Avastin as a single agent treatment last year. My side effects were limited to elevated blood pressure and headaches.
I hope that helps!

Re: Anyone had Ixempra and Avastin (& Carboplatin)

So, Wolfgang, you had Avastin last year. It must have done something good for you, since you've not had to have any more chemo since then (according to your sig).

I do get headaches, and I already had high blood pressure, being treated for years. I just wanted to see if I could find anyone who was on this drug trial I'm on, with the three combined drugs.

I doubt I'll find anyone. The Ixempra, mostly. I'll be so glad when I'm finished in January. Did anyone else live in dread of chemo, and the first week after? I seriously get anxiety attacks over it, esp. when we drive over to the hosp. for any kind of treatment.

The after effects of the chemo is absolutely terrible, and every time there's something different that happens, like the e-coli UTI, the 20 pound weight loss in 6 days/vomiiting, the bowels not working for a week and having to have that dealt with, herpes infections every round of chemo. It's like a nightmare to me, wondering what next. Of course, the low blood counts each time make me feel so tired I could faint. This thing had better be worth it in the end, but like my gyn/onc says, "maybe a remission" if I get lucky, maybe more time. Not much that they are dangling in front of this horse, to be sure. But the way things were going before I went on chemo and I just found out about the recurrence, I could hardly walk and had ascites. I just didn't really know what was wrong then for a while.

Are there some people who just sail through chemo like it's nothing? 'Cause I'll say that it's hell, to me.

Re: Anyone had Ixempra and Avastin (& Carboplatin)

My gyne/onc thinks that it is a combination of the clinical trial I was in, and Avastin, that got me to my current state of "no cancer visble". I know Avastin has helped many. I hope it also works for you!
I'm sorry you are having such a rough time with the chemo. Can your doctors give you anything to help with the significant side effects you are having? Maybe they don't understand the extent of your side effects.
Good luck! I hope they find something to combat your side effects If it is too much for you, maybe they could drop one of the chemo drugs.
