Does your vagina need to relax?

My dr told me that he wasn't sure he could do a TVH because I don't relax enough, he may have to do a TAH. Should I just ask him to skip the TVH and do the TAH? I am worried about going in for one and coming out with another. I have also been told that having a TAH helps to remind about the surgery. I have four kids and I might need the reminder...any suggestions?

Re: Does your vagina need to relax?

My problem is, I don't relax. I have to sleep with a mouth guard because I clench my teeth so bad at night that I cracked my four bottom molars. I just don't relax and that's what he is worried about.

Re: Does your vagina need to relax?

I agree with the other posts...........that doesn' t really make any sense.

The point of being sedated is to be in a relaxed state.....

Yes but this is different cuz you aren't sleeping but under sedation ...so the sleep is a bit different if you know what I mean?

Re: Does your vagina need to relax?

I have a feeling that the doctor meant "relax" in a different sense than we laypeople usually use the term. It sounds sort of like he's not talking about an act of conscious will or being all mellowed out, but about the amount of elasticity or "give" that your muscles have in them. I'd talk with him, but it doesn't sound like he's talking about the kind of "relaxing" that you might be able to do anything about -- but this is why you want to have the conversation, because if you CAN do something and it may give you the option for a different procedure, that's good to know.
