Hands and Joints Stiff and Hurting

I was "forced" into menopause becuase of my total hysterectomy on 6/15. All was well until I started having numbness in my hands upon awakening and experiencing stiffness after sitting a while. The most worrisome is that my hands ache. I don't have the strength in them any more. I didn't realize joint pain was part of menopause. Is there anyone taking any alternative/natural herbs of some sort for joint pain? I don't have hot flashes and thought, OH, I'm symptom free from menopause. I just recently starting reading up on menopause becuase of my situation.

Re: Hands and Joints Stiff and Hurting

Flaxseed oil, ginger are a few things to try for inflammation in the joints. If you Google herbs for joint pain some information will come up.

Re: Hands and Joints Stiff and Hurting

I never thought about my joint aches and numb hands in the morning having anything to do with the forced menopause. I've been writing it off to the fact that I have Chronic Fatigue Snydrome.

I'm not doing HRT and have just added extra calcuim/vit d. I also take Estroven PM which has helped with night sweats and sleep.

I go and see my gyn on the 8th and I'm going to ask her about the aches and numbness and see what she can tell me.

I feel for you. I have dealt with joint aches for many years because of the CFS.

Me too... joint pain and stiffness hands back, neck, shoulders, ankles etc..
I will see my gyn in 3 wks. I have other symptoms to discuss as well but I'm concerned about my muscles, joints and bones as I have a small frame and have always been thin.

Re: Hands and Joints Stiff and Hurting

You could also try some evening primrose oil for the joint pain, just be careful as some of the herbal stuff you can't take at the same time includes black cohosh and chasteberry. Hormones definitely affect your joints, you could always try an anti-inflammatory if need be.

Good luck!
