I can see why you'd want the whole picture at once.

That is so very strange the first pathologist didn't stage it. I sure hope your oncologist is raising a little #^*( with this third one.

Please do keep us posted on what you find out. I know its frustrating, but each day brings you closer to an answer.

Ovarian Cancer

I finally got pathology results today. The cancer is Grade 1 which Dr. said is good. The CA 125 test showed no cancer and the CAT scan and x-rays showed nothing. The next step is another surgery to check some lymph glands and other areas. I am so thankful for this good report today and am hoping that after the surgery I can say "no more cancer was found". This site is wonderful. Thank you all for being so encouraging and helpful.

Ovarian Cancer

Another site to check is www.cancereducation.com, www.ovariancancer.com
or www.ovarian.org

Check also the acor sites. There is a list for several different diseases. There is a list for ovarian cancer of over 1200 ladies who have had ovarian cancer or have been touched by it (family or friends of cancer patients). Please e-mail me for info on how to access this list and become a member.

I hope you get the news I was given last year--originally was set to have chemo. Before it was to be scheduled, the second opinion came back on the pathology and I was told I had "borderline" or "LMP" (low malignant potential). Although I didn't need chemo, I do have to see my gyn for follow-up visits every 3 months for the first two years post-op and then it will be every 6 months for the next 10 years after that. The CA-125 doesn't work for my type of tumor, so the exam has to catch whatever may come back. Also, I was told that if I had a recurrence (less than 7% chance according to gyn oncologist), I would have surgery rather than chemo. Chemo only works on fast-growing cancers.

May God be with you and protect you through this stressful time. I know what you are feeling right now, but you have to get past it so that you can concentrate on fighting.

You may e-mail me direct if you need any info on accessing the list mentioned above. Please put Hystersisters in the subject line as I do not read e-mail where I don't recognize a name or subject matter. [email protected]
