Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 13-Dec 19,2010

If your hysterectomy was between Dec 13-Dec 19,2010 this is the place to post your progress during your hysterectomy recovery.

If you have a question about your recovery, please start a new thread to receive answers and support for your concerns instead of including the question in your update! There is information on how to start a new thread in this link: New Here? or you can use this link: Post a New Topic in the Post-Op forum.

Post how you are doing here when you are home and well enough to sit a few minutes at your computer.

We hope you are recovering well with plenty of rest and water and a bit of walking. Don't forget to pamper the princess!

How to use the Recovery Progress Reports thread:

  • 1. This thread is for the purpose of sharing updates on your recovery as you heal from your hysterectomy.

  • 2. Generally, ONE or TWO posts on this thread per member/per day is adequate to share your daily progress and to share encouragement with your surgery week Sisters.

  • 3. Remember to start a new thread on the Post-Op message board to ask your questions.

  • 4. The Progress Report threads will be moved at approximately 8 weeks post-op to the Date Club forum inside the HysterSisters clubhouse.

  • 5. Remember all the love and support you got here as a pre-op member? Now it's YOUR turn to give back to the women in the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support forum. Extend your hand and your hugs in replies to our pre-op ladies in waiting. This will complete our circle of women helping women!

  • 6. You can also share support and experiences with post-op members in all phases of recovery in the Post-Op Hysterectomy Support forum by replying on the new threads they create.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 13-Dec 19,2010

to the Post-op forum! I’m so glad you found your way to this thread.

It's been almost two year since my own hysterectomy. I’m sitting here wrapped in an afghan and wearing my fuzzy purple bunny slippers, thinking about how I felt when I came home from the hospital after my hysterectomy. I had so many questions and felt like my life revolved around pain and bowel movements and emotions. It was wonderful to come to HysterSisters and find out that other women were experiencing the same things.

The purpose of this thread is to give you a place to update us on how you’re doing as you recover and begin to heal from your surgery. I will be hanging out with you in this thread, to keep you company while you get through your initial recovery period. We have a lot of resources on this website, and one of the things I’ll do is help you find the best places to post your questions and concerns.

Be sure to start a new thread in our Post-op forum when you have any questions that could benefit from the experience of women who have already "been there, done that."

I look forward to getting to know you as you continue on your journey toward post-hysterectomy health and happiness!

Hello!! I had my dVH yesterday afternoon and I am doing ok. I have more pain then I expected but the morphine is helping alot. I should go home today or tomorrow. I am having pain from the gas in my tummy and my right side of my rib cage hurts. It feels like it got bruised during the surgery. I am going to try to get up later this morning after breakfast so that I can try to get rid of this gas.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 13-Dec 19,2010

Hi Amyirene74 and newhope43

It sounds like you both have some of the usual post-surgery soreness and gas. Walk regularly to help with the gas, and take your pain meds on a schedule to help your body concentrate on healing.

I'm glad you found your way here!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 13-Dec 19,2010

Hi Gals, I had my TLH yesterday, surgery went well, but unfortunetly the anesthisia did a number on me, vomitted for 12 hours, couldn't control it even with meds, but went away about 10pm. I decided to go the intrathecal way for pain control and it worked really well, didn't use my morphine pump all night, just itchy now, but I feel great. Came home about noon today, using percocet for pain control, staying ahead of the pain as I have a very high pain tolerence as I have a history of kidney stones. I have been walking every 2 hours or so and just took a shower which felt wonderful but wiped me out. Having the typical shoulder pain from belly gas, and very little bowel gas. Overall thrilled with my situation right now. In much less pain than I had expected, just have 3 small incisions and thrilled they didn't have to convert to an abdominial. Also was able to keep my ovaries, so no HRT for me.

I hope my fellow systers are fairing as well, I truly couldn't be happier that I made this choice.

Happy Healing!

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Dec 13-Dec 19,2010

Good afternoon ladies, I had my surgery yesterday and am home recovering today. I am sore especially around the rib area and right side of body, also pain in the shoulders but was told that was all due to gas. I have passed gas only once but no bowel movement yet. I have taken some gas x to help with relief. Not eating alot but drinking alot of water. I'm taking my meds as scheduled and haven't experienced any pain other than what I have indicated above. I'm feeling better than I thought I would and have no regrets about getting the surgery. I had my uterus and cervix removed, kept my ovaries. Hoping I can get more walking in tomorrow other than from my bedroom to the bathroom. Hope everyone has a speedy recovery.

Finally home from the hospital. Had more pain then expected but I am doing ok on the Lortab now. I kept my ovaries but I am having terrible hot flashes and I am leaking colostrum from my right breast. The dr said it's normal. I can't wait until I feel normal again. I have so much to do here at home.
