The Decision Has Been Made

I had a doctor appointment yesterday & I decided that I would just go ahead with the hysterectomy. I am going to have everything removed but one ovary (my right one) unless they are too damaged to leave in, so that I do not have to go on HRT yet. I'm hoping that that I can get another 10 years out of the ovary that is left in since I am only 24.
My surgery is going to be some time in Jan. The doctor felt that it would be best to get through the holidays first. I agree!!!
I am going to have a laparoscopically assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH).
For those of you who are going to say, "bit it won't cure your endo!" I know.
I am not doing it for the endo. I am doing it to cure my adenomyosis.
Please feel free to give me advice. I went to the library to get some books on hysterectomies & I only found 2. I would love to hear from you ladies.
I know that it's going to be a long process, but with you by my seems so much more simple!
I hope that all of you are feeling okay.

The Decision Has Been Made

Hi Endo Chic

I will be 8 weeks post op on Monday from my TAH. I also had my hyster because of adeno. My Dr. performed mine abdominally since the adeno had caused my uterus to be so enlarged. I think you will have an easier recovery with the vaginal. So far so good for me. Just got back from vacation last night. How nice not to plan events around the severe periods and terrible clots !

Good luck to you ......

The Decision Has Been Made

Hi Endo,

Here is a link to the Pre Op support forums that has all kinds of links including info on hysterectomies.

Pathology post hyst discovered my Adenomyosis. I thought this was the only way to diagnose it! Then, I am not a dr Fibroids were the reason for my enlarged uterus but I think it was the Adenomyosis that really was the culprit in the pain and bleeding.

Good luck in your searches! Hope you do well in your surgery and recovery and I think its a good idea to try to keep your ovary if at all possible.
