Made my decision

Hi again everyone. I would like to thank those of you that gave me such great input about trying to decided wether or not to have a Hysterectomy.
I decided to have it done. It will be done Vaginally unless the biopsy she takes on my Overies comes out to be Cancerous. Then she will have to do it Abdominally. I plan to have my Overies out also.
I have a couple questions for anyone who may have had these experiences tho

First of all I am a big baby .... and I was wondering if the biopsy hurts very much? Hate to be such a weeennneee...Hehehehe

Second, unfortunetly I smoke , and I am a little worried about having major surgery. I talked to my Dr., and she is concerned, but seems to think it will be ok.. (I know there are no garentees).

Comments on either one of these? I wish I could quit, but I am really nervous about this surgery, and I don't think it would be a good time to try (although as far as the surgery it would)
Thanks again all for your help!!

Made my decision

Hi Laura!

I'm glad you have made your decision and seem to be comfortable with it.

I have never had a biopsy like that, in fact, I didn't know biopsies could be done on ovaries without surgery.... but I have heard from one person (biopsied cervix) that it was not painful at the time, just felt the pressure and felt a little sore afterwards. I heard from another person (also cervix biopsy) that it was not painful at all, not during and not after.

:smokin:About the smoking - I'm a smoker, too, and everything was fine with my surgery. They gave me this funky breathing apparatus at the hospital to do breathing exercises - 10 per hour - to clear out my lungs and ward off congestion. Since my doc did not want me up and walking at first, the breathing exercises really did help with the congestion you can get from laying down for too long after being anesthetised, and they also helped me with the pain when my meds let me down!

Don't worry, hon' - I think everything will be fine for ya!
