Home from the Castle...TVH on Nov 7

Hi All...

So glad to be home from the castle! I had a TVH on Wednesday at 9:00 AM, was released on Friday at 11:00 AM ...
and feeling great!

I had a spinal and I was asleep during the procedure. I think this was an excellent way to go, I was a little concerned with being "awake" during the procedure, but I wasn't. I didn't have the groggy, nauseated feeling of the general afterwards. I do recommend, however, that anyone having a spinal make sure that they start your pain meds BEFORE the numbness wears off, as I had ALOT of pain when it finally wore off in recovery. The nurse even commented that she should have started the pump a little sooner. I had a demerol pump as I am allergic to morphine.

Other than that everything went fine...I was up and walking outside the hospital as soon as they took the catheter out and with minimal pain. I think the gas pains were worse than the actual surgery pain!

I feel like I could go shopping or clean the house right now, but I do know that I need to rest....so that is what I am going to do. I have stopped the pain meds as of yesterday.

To all you ladies in waiting---it is a piece of cake! I was so amazed at how easy it was. I am just glad to be home from the castle as it was hard to get any rest in there.

Thank you all for your support and words of wisdom.

Welcome Home Terri. Sounds like your castle experience was as pleasant as it can be

You are very wise to avoid the temptations to shop or clean: take it from me, it is NOT a wise thing to do, so early in your recovery

Here are your orders: rest, rest, rest, walk a little, drink plenty of water and juices (will help with the ) and, when you're done (this is the tricky part), rest some more.

hello

I am so glad to read that you breezed through your sugery.
I had an epidural during surgery. I had pneumonia. I think that I am lucky because I didn't have the nausea and other complications from a general.

Your hospital stay was so short! You must be getting along great.
