So nervous my date has been moved up!! Some graphic material and kids mentioned
evr since I was told I had to have this surgery I was devastated. I have no kids I gave birth to but I do have 5 kids whom I helped raise that love me. My husband is the most amazing man. He doesn't act like this is a small thing, he actually holds my hair while I'm sick! I can't ask for any better. We've been trying to have a baby for so long, the last ectopic almost killed me. I just celebrated my 36th b day dec 19th.
I spent all night last night in soooo much pain, I begged god to end the pain I cried so much I said "i put it in your hands lord I do"....and at 10:16 am this morning my hospital callled to reschedule my surg for THIS FRIDAY JANUARY 7th....wow......wowww,wowww
I'm going for blood work today at 1240. I am severely anemic so I'm so weak right now but sisters I'm really ready to be done. I am bleeding so much right now that I keep having ut contractions every 10 min all day and night. I feel like I'm in labor cause the clots are so huge I have to push them out...illll!!!! Did you all have that problem too is that from the fibroids part or the adhesions part? I've had 7 abdominal surg. And the last time they had to go in (8 years ago) when I awoke I was told I should never ever have abdominal surg again. Doc said I have massive adhesions and they tried to clean up what they could but it will come back. I didn't have the hysterectomy like the doc suggested then cause I wanted kids and didn't believe what I was being told I wanted another opinion but I was already morning the loss of another baby and the pain in recovery, and not ready to let go of being a mother yet ( letting go of my baby oven) I wasn't ready.
so now I have to prepare and I'm scared but ready to be done. This feels so surreal.
Jan 6th 2011 TAH with one ovary staying hope fully if it looks good and a clean up of adhesions and wrapping of organs, so when adhesions come back they won't fuse my other organs together like now.

I will definitely pray for you. I know I went through tons of confusing emotions before my surgery. Up until the very last moment (me on the bed waiting for surgery!) I questioned my decision. I realized it was the right decision when I started passing HUGE clots at that moment, hours before surgery!! It was so incredibly painful and the doctors said they felt so bad for me. Even before surgery, I was bleeding profusely. They told me later on that they realized had I not gone in for surgery, I'd be at home having that incredibly painful and messy period.
You will be okay! I also suffered from anemia and every other complication and I've felt 100x better now that I got rid of the uterus!
Good luck to you!

Wow ... you've had a rough ride. Mothers are made in all sorts of ways - and many of them don't require a uterus. Keep praying.

Re: So nervous my date has been moved up!! Some graphic material and kids mentioned
Lots of hugs and good thoughts coming your way.
I have two amazing biological boys, but am also going through a kinship adoption - so I know families can be made in many different ways, and they are all just as valid and good. I can only imagine your sense of loss for this aspect.
I had my op on 12/30, so I'm day 4 on recovery. I too questioned the decision right up to the moment I went under the general. Its just not an easy one, no matter what. What worked for me is to keep reviewing the facts - the pain, the heavy bleeding, and the 'down time' that this causes. I'm 46, and the median age of menopause is 51, so I could have lost several years of my life with the at least two weeks per month downtime.
I am finding it very normal to mourn the loss of my uterus, ovaries, tubes and cervix. I even created a little memorial area in my garden with some prayer flags and a candle.
All I keep thinking about is I'm now over that horrible medical bit, and if I just take good care of myself now, I wont have to revisit that bit. It is a big hill to climb, but you can do it, and then you can get your life back. Good luck in your decision.
