TVH: Arnica for post-op healing?

Hi there,

Someone told me that Arnica is good for healing after childbirth and told me to take it after my surgery. Has anyone on here taken it and did it help?

What is it?

Arnica is a homeopathic tablet(s) that help with healing. My naturopath recommended me taking them a few times a day AFTER surgery. I did, and perhaps it helped with recovery.
I waited until I came home from the hospital before taking any and took it for several days. I would look into it before taking it, but it is common and most doctors know about it.

I am an RN at a surgery center. Arnica only benefits patients having facial surgery.

Yes, it is used for facial surgeries, but my naturopath said it would be helpful after my surgery. Seemed to work, or not. I recovered pretty easily.

My surgeon has all her patients take it along with bromlein. I took and healed very well but am not sure if I can contribute it totally to that. But my surgeon has found it helps with less bruising and inflammation.

I used a homeopathic ointment that has arnica. My bruises went away very quickly. I continued to use it on my lower abdomen, hoping that it would help with internal healing. My post op appointment is tomorrow, so we'll soon know how well I've healed inside.

Thanks, ladies. I discussed it at my pre-op with my doctor and she says Not to take it as it can cause bleeding issues. Also, can interact with my cholesterol meds.
