How long before the patch kicks in

My doctor just put me on vivelle dot 0.0375 mg/day. I use two patches a week. This is only day two being on the patch. I have hot flashes, insomnia (very bad), and crying spells occasionally. How long before the patch kicks in, I really miss sleeping?

Re: How long before the patch kicks in

It may take some time, especially as you are so early in your recovery. Fluctuating hormones are quite normal during the initial months post op. That said; everyone is different, some experience relief fairly quickly, while for others it can take weeks/months.

My doctor placed a patch on me immediately after surgery, but I still had hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia, crying spells. I realize now that this was probably from the fluctuating hormone levels as my body used up its stored reserves and recovered from surgery. And I now know that most of these symptoms are fairly normal.

I think it would be helpful for you to keep a journal of your symptoms. A journal can give a clearer picture if things are getting better or worse over time.

in there. Things can get better. Patience may be needed.

Re: How long before the patch kicks in

Mine kicked in pretty quickly, but I'm on the .1 mg. patch. I sleep like a log now! Maybe if you don't see results your doctor could bump you up to a higher mg. patch.
Take care.

Thanks Kim M and Lovebirds. I finally slept the other night for 4 to 5 hours so I'm am being hopeful that the patch is kicking in. I love the idea about the journal. Thanks bunches.
