Angry - Vaginal dryness issues Vaginal dryness issues

I'm 2 months post-op. I hoped that once I got past the extreme anxiety of resuming intimacy after TVH, the dryness would ease a little. It has not at ALL. Before, my body's response in foreplay was a huge part of DH's enjoyment. At first, he thought the total absence of lubrication was a lack of desire or enjoyment on my part, and resented the artificial interruption of Astroglide. I actually had to draw him a diagram and show him how the TVH eliminated some of my body's physical or natural ability to produce lubrication. Now he's okay with using a lubricant, but if we want more than 5 minutes of intimacy, it has to be reapplied repeatedly. If I use enough initially to make it through the act, it creates a huge mess. I'm startled at the contrast of how extreme the dryness is, and indeed is even causing me day-to-day discomfort, sensations of pinching and pulling vaginally. I'm very discouraged; our intimacy was/is a very strong and enjoyable part of a wonderful marriage. Our frequency is back to normal, and he's happy except for what this is doing to me. I feel inadequate and "broken." I'm not depressed, just freaking out a little.

Re: Vaginal dryness issues

I'm sorry you're going through this. You're not broken! Have you tried a silicone lubricant? My doctor recommended one called "Pink" which doesn't need to be reapplied, and has a nice slippery feel. I don't find it to be messy at all and it has no scent or taste. It is sold in "adult" shops but you can find in online drugstores too.
And vaginal estrogen cream can really help with dryness.

Re: Vaginal dryness issues

Have you considered trying vaginal estrogen? It comes in several forms, and will help with the dryness. Ask your MD about it. My hysto was due to cancer and my gyn prescribed it.

Ditto on the silicone lubes and getting them online. Also sometimes gels are better, but they are messier than silicone liquids like silk or pjur. Might be worth a try and there are a lot to choose from. Some sites have small sample size packs too so you don't stock up at first. They are popular products.
