Estrace vaginal cream how long until it starts working for vaginal dryness

I am almost 5 weeks post op a TVH with a uterosacral bladder repair. I had a UTI during the 2nd week post op that was treated with an antiobiotic. I then got what I thought was a yeast infection. I was given Diflucan and thought the symptoms got better. Then a week later, I had the symptoms of bladder pressure & urinary frequency return. My surgeon tested me for another UTI/Yeast infection but they both came back negative. So I was given a prescription for Estradiol (Estrace) vaginal cream that I am supposed to use daily for 2 weeks then cut back to 2x's a week. have used it for 4 days and thought the symptoms were improving but this morning it seems like the symptoms have returned with a vengence. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do about it?

Re: Estrace vaginal cream how long until it starts working for vaginal dryness

Hi..I have just started using the estrace -- I used 1/2 gram for 2 weeks and then I'm supposed to use it 2 or 3 times a week. For me, I noticed relief pretty much after the first night of using it..but it took a full 2 weeks to feel 'normal' down there. I tried using it only 2 times the first week after the 2 week every night routine..it wasn't enough - I started feeling the burning and irritation and feeling like I needed to urinate a lot. I am using about 3/4 gram 3 times a week and I've been gauging it on how I'm feeling. I would see how you feel after the 2 weeks and if you're still having problems, see your dr because maybe you need a different type of creme..I know there are others..good luck to you! HUGS!!

Melanie, Thanks for your reply. I will give it more time and hope for the best. I see the doctor for my 6 week checkup in another week. Hopefully I will see some improvement by then.
