Leaking breastmilk 4 weeks post-op??

I stopped nursing my daughter in October 2010 at 11 months old. I just couldn't keep up with her demand anymore. I have never leaked since that last feeding. This morning I notice a wet spot on my shirt and breastmilk leaking from my left nipple. My left nipple was purple. I am beginning my fourth week post-op from a total abdominal hysterectomy (cervix gone too) and right ovary/right tube removal. Kept my left ovary. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it sound like a normal part of TAH recovery? I am so confused!

Re: Leaking breastmilk 4 weeks post-op??

Thanks to some guidance from our sister fire, I was able to find some information from a few years ago. Would like to know if any current sisters are experiencing drainage from their breasts and what your experience was. Thanks!

i am thinking that the hormone change is what is causing it, might you call a lactation consultant and see? i know a lot of women have breast tenderness following surgery.

Re: Leaking breastmilk 4 weeks post-op??

I'm not sure if this will help but Here goes. After my 2nd DS I breast feed for 4 months it took about 2 months before I stopped leaking. There were a couple other times over the last ten years that I leaked milk. Dr said it was not uncommen so I asked a few friends who told me it had happened to them too.
If your worried ask your dr
good luck
