Red face - The continuesd saga of taking hormones The continuesd saga of taking hormones

I am 46 years old and am 18 days post op from a TAH/BS0

I was given the prescription for estradiol 1 mg and have yet to take one. I am worried of the side effects on the hormone replacement.

I have been having night sweats and have also been emotional, but nothing that has made my life unbearable. I also have some issues with insomnia.

I am worried the symptoms could increase..but would love to hear from someone dealing with surgical menopause and how they are handling it.

Smile - The continuesd saga of taking hormones Re: The continuesd saga of taking hormones

Hi Farmwife85

Its taking me a bit of time to navigate round here and send replys hope I've done this correctly lol. I'm 47 and also had TAH/BSO I'm 6wks post op. I haven't taken any HRT yet but I'm discussing it with my Dr next week I'm getting more hot flushes/sweats as time goes on. I'm sleeping a bit better now but that has only been in the last week or so but I'm still waking in the night.

I think been emotional and Insomnia is all part of the surgery it's quite normal. Hopefully that'll pass for you & you'll feel better in a few weeks.

Re: The continuesd saga of taking hormones

You are still early post op. Insomnia, night sweats and mood swings are some of the most common symptoms at this point in your recovery. I start ert immediately after surgery, still had symptoms. It can take the body awhile to to recover from surgery and use up its stored reserves of hormones.

While it took me awhile to find balance, I've been using hrt for 11+ years now. I am doing well, would not be without it.
