Vaginal burning with Vagifem

Hi there,
I am a 50 yr old post hyst. 7 yr ago, I have one ovary and cervix. No problems up until now. I saw my GYN for my yearly, and complained about vaginal dryness, painful sex. She rec. Vagifem. Started this, and on day 6, the vaginal burning, and increased urination was on with a vengeance! Intermittent bladder spasms as well. I feel like the Vagifem has made everything worse. Should I continue? Over time will these symptoms subside? My GYN wanted me to switch to the Estrace cream, this is too messy.
Should I continue the Vagifem or not?
Thanks so much!

Re: Vaginal burning with Vagifem

How often do you take it? I use Vagifem and use one tablet a week. Maybe it is too much for you. I would not use it if I knew it irritated me. I hope you can find something that will help and not bother you.

Re: Vaginal burning with Vagifem

Thank you for responding, my doctor wanted me to use Vagifem for 10days, then drop back to 2 times a week, does this sound right?
I am wondering whether to start Monday with the once a week dose? Will call my doctor Monday, thankfully the burning has settled down!

Vagifem too strong??

Is it possible that the vagifem is too strong? I started the 10 mcg for 10 days, on day 6, I used some topical Estrace and the Vagifem.
The urinary frequency, burning in the vagina and bladder spasms was awful. I stopped the Vagifem, and this is day 4 of using nothing and i am no better..would a lower dose be the answer? All lubes burn long before this episode.
Should I continue something just to get the tissues plumped up?
Thanks!

Re: Vaginal burning with Vagifem

Hi

I can't use Vagifem or any other vaginal cream, it causes a burning pain and swelling. The estring worked much better for me. You might want to give it a try.
