Do we need Progesterone??
Ladies who have had a hyst. Do we need progesterone with the estrogen? I am just discovering the symptoms of declining estrogen, and wondering if I need to have progesterone as well? Right now, I am trying to find a vaginal estrogen that does not send my bladder into orbit! No luck with Vagifem or Estrace. After cultures come back on my urine sample, I have ask to try the Estring. I am confused on what it is the body needs in regards to hormones. Symptoms so far are vaginal dryness, painful sex, moodiness, insomnia, lack of energy. No real hot flashes, but do get "warm" during the night.
Any input please )

Re: Do we need Progesterone??
Hi
Would you mind going to your Profile and entering in the date of your Hysterectomy? This will help you get the best support
I read in one of your previous posts that you still have one ovary, is that correct? That can also make a difference in the support you get.
Is vaginal estrogen the only estrogen you are interested in using, or are you considering using an estrogen which would help you with your whole body symptoms?
Many women with and without ovaries use progesterone, as it is the "calming hormone" and can help us feel better.
Here is a link to a list of symptoms for Too Much, Too Little which can help you discover which of the hormones you may need. You do need to realize though that many symptoms can be on more than one list, so many times it is helpful to have a Dr or Pharmacist help you. This list does give us a good starting point though.
Hope this helps.
