Have not seen my biopsy report yet, but in the hosp. my Dr. described my ovarian cysts as the benign part of ovarian cancer. Anyone ever heard of this?? Thanks! Cindy

Benign part of ovarian cancer???

Maybe the doctor was trying to tell you that your cysts would have gone into the benign type of ovarian cancer. I was diagnosed with cervical cancer, but am sure that one of the other ladies will be around to clear this up for you. Sorry that I couldnt' be of more help to you.

Benign part of ovarian cancer???

Hi Cindy,
I am stumped on that one..... I have never heard of that terminology before actually. It sounds like he is saying he expects things to come back benign though and thats always a good word to hear!!
Hopefully someone will have more info for you on this.
Keeping good thoughts and prayers for your results! Be sure to let us know.

benign ovarian cysts

I am happy to hear you had good news about your surgery. I had a hyst last year for "complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia" and found out four days later that I had early stage uterine cancer (Stage Ib) and also early stage ovarian cancer (1c). I had tumors on both ovaries. But, luckily, my gyn surgeon referred me to a gyn oncologist for follow-up. I was originally going to receive chemo for the ovarian cancer, but after further evaluation of the pathology slides was told I "didn't have cancer." It was borderline. My doctor said I was "fortunate" because most ovarian cancer is found at Stage III or IV, which does not have as good a prognosis. You definitely have something to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.
I have become involved with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance and attended their advocacy conference in September in Indianapolis. I decided that I could help spread the word to women who have never heard of ovarian cancer or have little knowledge about it. I never knew a person with ovarian cancer--only a friend whose mother died from it. Although it was initially thought that there are no symptoms of ovarian cancer, THERE ARE WHISPERS. Many women tend to feel that their symptoms are minimal, so they don't report them to their doctor.
Anyone interested in obtaining information about this insidious disease, including the "whispers" (symptoms), please contact me. In the subject line of your message, please include "hystersisters" or "ovarian cancer info requested." I receive a lot of junk e-mail. [email protected]
