History of DVT-Researching HRT

I am nearly 33 years old and have had 5 DVT's. My hysterectomy is scheduled for one week from today. I just realized that this history may pose a significant issue when it comes to HRT. Anyone else here dealing with/have dealt with this issue? I don't want to increase my DVT risk or put my life in danger, but I am also worried about my age and the increased risk of hormonal issues after surgery.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I assume you are having your ovaries removed with your hyst? If you are seeing a hematologist, I think you'd need to clear any HRT with that Dr. Have you been tested for clotting disorders (some ladies here have factor V Leiden)? If you can't take HRT, you can ask about meds like antidepressants or clonidine for symptoms if you have them. You'd have to ask if herbs are OK before you try them as analternative. Vitamin D and calcium will be important for your bones. Definitely discuss all this pre op. I don't know why you are having the surgery but could you get a 2nd opinion on keeping the ovaries, so HRT wouldn't be an issue? Just a thought. Best wishes for your surgery.

Yes, ovaries and everything are going. I have Lynch Syndrome which gives me a significantly increased risk for cancers of the reproductive system. The general consensus between al of my docs (oncologist/hematologist, Primary, Genetics, and Gyn) is that both ovaries go.

I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon with my gyn/surgeon. I plan to ask him what he recommends, but I always like to do my own research, as well.
