Dr apt 4/13 - what do I ask for?

This is my first post (except to the introduction page).

I am going to see a OBGYN that specializes in endocrinology.

Is there some type of special test I can ask for?

I have surgical menopause since 2006. Was on & off & on various types of HRT. Right now I am HRT free since Feb 2011. I can no longer manage my symptoms.

This is a new DR and I have to start at the beginning. Any suggestions on how to get the most from my appointment?

Thanks everyone!

Re: Dr apt 4/13 - what do I ask for?

I'm sorry that you've having problems and hope that your doctor will be able to help you find balance with your hormones.

Be sure you mention all of the symptoms that you are experiencing and let the doctor know what you have tried for hormone therapy--the doses, the method of delivery, how long you were using each one, etc. Also let the doctor know what supplements and medications you're taking.

You might want to ask about having your thyroid levels checked as well as your hormone levels, though since you aren't currently using hormones those levels will probably test low.

Let us know how your appointment goes! Hopefully you and the doctor will come up with a plan that will get you on the road to feeling better.
