Re: Elestrin?
Hello!
Your doctor is right--it does take time for any hormone therapy to reach optimal levels. My doctor wanted me to wait three months before considering any changes to give the hormone therapy a fair chance to work for me.
Early in recovery it's normal to have symptoms, with or without ovaries, on or off hormone therapy. With your ovaries removed, your body is depleting the hormones your ovaries made, while adjusting to the new hormones. It can be frustrating not to feel well, but making changes too soon can actually make finding balance harder than it needs to be.
I hope you find that you're feeling better as you get further into your recovery. If you aren't keeping a symptom journal yet, it would be good to start one. You'll then have a written record to show to your doctor if you find yourself in need of a change in dose or type of hormone therapy.
Good luck with this!
