Testosterone Level questions

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I could possibly hear from some people about what their pre-HRT testosterone levels were.

I am looking into HRT, my testosterone levels were tested at .4 . My doctor claims that .2 to 5.0 are "normal levels" for women ages 18-99, but I am a pre-hysterectomied woman, and that number seems very low considering such a thing. I have a lot of the symptoms I see listed here, that were helped with HRT, so I figured I'd check if any women knew what their levels were at.

P.S. I don't know which, exactly, testosterone level test that was... I called my Dr.'s office to find out, and haven't heard back yet.

P.P.S. If someone is in the Boston area, I'd love to hear from you.

Re: Testosterone Level questions

Hi, I am by no means an expert but I am guessing that is your free testosterone level, not total testosterone. I have no idea what my pre- op values were but I have my hormone levels checked regularly since I use hormone pellet therapy. I just had my levels checked this week and my free T was .6. My doctor felt that was a bit low and gave me a booster shot to tide me over until my next implant. So I guess I would agree that your level sounds a bit low. I know that I have more energy and feel better when my T is a bit higher.

Re: Testosterone Level questions

I had my hormone levels checked about a month before surgery and then again 3 months after surgery. My results show a testosterone level of 23 before surgery and 34 after surgery, with a normal range of 6-82. I'm on 1.5 testosterone cream every third day. Was originally on 3mg every day, but had problems with oily skin and acne. I feel like I'm on the right dosage now.

Hope this helps!!
