Question on weight loss and Estradiol level

I'm scheduled to have a LVH/BSO on May 13th. As I'm trying to prepare for what life will be like after that time () I decided to request copies of my lab reports for the last year from my OB/GYN. I was especially interested in my Estradiol levels. Back on 12/28/10 my Estradiol serum was at 47. My doctor has always told me that that means I'm not in menopause....which makes sense. But I never really questioned what that number actually means for me until I read the book Screaming To Be Heard.
I have absolutely struggled to lose weight the last 5-6 years. It seems that no matter what I try....exercising more and cutting down on calories and carbs, I can't lose the weight that seems to have creeped on me! I am currently about 35 pounds overweight. Its just so depressing.

Is it possible that since my Estradiol level is at 47 that's contributing to my lack of weight loss? Or am I just grasping at anything I can here?

My FSH is at 9.7
My T4, Free is at 1.07
My TSH is at 1.57

It doesn't look like my doctor ever ordered an detailed antibody thryoid test.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had experience with their Estriadiol level being that low before menopause and if that can be contributing to my weight issues.

Re: Question on weight loss and Estradiol level

I am sure that around my late forties I started noticing that it was harder to lose weight. As we age our metabolism slows down. I have been on hormones and off, and still have to watch the weight gain issue.
I do know if you build up more muscle this helps. Have you tried using weights? Bread , all kinds, seem to put weight on me, as does rice, so I limit this.

Here is a link to helping with weight loss :

I would check with my doctor if nothing is working, perhaps some tests need to be done like thyroid.
