Harry on DVD

Nanc --

DVDs are known for having all kinds of good stuff on them in additional to the movie. They're really a movie lovers treat, I understand. Well some day maybe I'll get a new TV and a player (I have a 14" TV, and don't even have a video!).

Harry Potter

I was at the mall this weekend, and our local music, dvd, vcr type store (our's is called FYE) is taking orders to reserve your copy of Harry Potter. It is still stating that it will be released on May 28th. I only had to put $5.00 down to hold a copy for me on the release date. The dvd was only $19.99. I was worried it would be much more expensive than that. I now have my copy on hold. They also will have it in VCR format, and I think it was 14.99, but I'm not sure on that price. Anyway, if you want to reserve a copy, go and check with you local music store to see if they are going to carry it.

Thumbs down - Harry Potter Harry Potter

Here goes...looks like everyone else on thread likes Harry Potter. Not me. Sorcery, witchcraft, divination all seem the same to me. I think I'll steer clear of all that.

Harry Potter

Absolutely love Harry Potter! Am a media specialist & read book to see what all the uproar was about. I loved the whole series. So did my 17 yo DD. It is true high fantasy and should be presented as such. Excellent for teaching the difference between realism & fantasy. Can't wait for the next book and next movie!

Christian who loves Harry!

Wild about Harry

Have no problem with anything about Harry, but do understand why some folks do. I just don't see it that way.

Royally angry that book 5 is so delayed, I'm begining to fear that the series will end in the middle!

LynnMary, are you familiar with the Narnia books? How do you feel about the way Lewis handles it all?

Harry Potter

Yes, I have read C.S. Lewis' works. My sense of discernment tells me there is a big difference in intent in his works versus the Harry Potter series. Just my personal opionion, which is what this review thread is. Still think the BEST book I have read is the Bible.

Harry Potter

LynnMary --

Well, of course. They were coming from two different worlds. But I thought from the reasons you disliked Harry, you might have liked Narnia. I like both series, recognizing their differences.

Harry Potter

Hi Marian-
I do like the works of C.S. Lewis. The is a new book out that I found interesting. The title is "Finding God With The Lord of the Rings". I don't remember the author. Lemstone Books and Barnes & Noble both have it.
Hey, off the subject, I noticed you are from Tel Aviv. How are things going over there? Sometimes it's hard to tell from what is on the news. My husband and I are considering a trip to Israel in October but not sure yet.
Hope you are recovering nicely. This hysterectomy has been great for me.
