Medication needed if post menopause?

Hi, I have a question that I haven't been able to find the answer to. I will be having a hysterectomy in the near future, just waiting on a scheduling date. I am 90% through with menopause. If my ovaries are removed during my surgery will I need any type of hormone replacement medication? Or nothing at all since my menopause is almost completely over? Thanks for any help.

There have been members on this site who have been through menopause and figured they wouldn't notice a difference after having their ovaries removed--but that didn't turn out to be the case. Even after menopause, the ovaries produce beneficial hormones, though at lesser amounts. Natural menopause and surgical menopause are not the same. If it's at all possible for you to keep your ovaries, consider keeping them. If you can't keep them you'll want to research hormone therapy so you can discuss your preferences with your doctor.
