Cervix question

I am almost 10 months TAH post-op and doing unbelievably well. But, I have just one concern. When I am on my 'period' (my cycles are still like clockwork), I still have a little cramping. I still have my cervix, so could it be my cervix contracting? Or do I just happen to have a stomach ache every 4 weeks. It is not too painful, but it just concerned my that something isn't right. I also spot blood (a drop or two per month) sometimes. I am assuming that the top part of the cervix also has some of the uterine lining to shed. Sound right? Thanks!

Cervix question

Hi rhonda!!

I didn't keep my cervix (sometimes wish I had..lol) so I can't say I know what you are feeling, but I do know that it is possible and probable that girls who have kept there cervix will have "mini periods".

It was one reason I decided to lose mine, didn't think I could deal with it...I will say though that even without a cervix I stil have pre period things going on with my overy....2 days of pms which includes a migraine...mood swings...and phantom cramping..sometimes my vaginal cuff seems like it's cramping..weird huh?..

so to me that's what it sounds like is a mini period and doesn't sound like you are crazy to me.....you might want to call your doc just to make sure the bleeding (or spotting) is normal for you...sometimes I call my doc just for the peace of mind to know It's "normal"

Cervix question

Rhonda - Toolgrl is correct...if you keep cervix AND one or both ovaries...mini periods are possible. Use search icon at the top and search by keywords "mini periods"...that will give you some additional posts to read.

Cervix question

Yes, it could be your cervix cramping.

Or, well, at least I think so. Here's why I say it's possible: I have a horse (as you might have guessed). One of the horse magazines I get recently answered a letter where a reader asked about his mare, who seemed to "get a cramp" when he tried to rinse off her horsey private parts. He didn't know if she just "didn't like it" or if it was really hurting her. The magazine replied that cold water on the "under the tail region" can indeed cause the cervix to cramp or spasm, which would hurt.

In fact, it wasn't until I read that that I put two-and-two together... I have always had problems with cramps if I tried to take a cool shower after working outside on a hot day. Ouch! I don't get those cramps anymore. It wasn't until I read that magazine that I figured out it must have been my cervix cramping up.'

So, that's my theory, based on horses, for what it's worth.
