6 days post-op, pain in lower left abdomen

I had my hysterectomy 6 days ago. My dr used the DaVinci Robot. I have 5 small incisions (which haven't given me ANY problems...Yeah!) & kept my cervix and ovaries. I've been having some pretty serious pain in my lower left abdomen for the past few days. Not sure if I overdid it on Saturday...? because that's when it started. Now, whenever I get up and walk around for more than 5 minutes, I'm having this really intense pain and it will subside once I stop moving and push in on that area. It also stops if I sit down. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, and am a little concerned that maybe I hurt myself by doing too much too soon? I'm such a 'go, go, go' person, and this "resting" and laying around is KILLING me!! I've read not to overdo things, but how do you know when you're overdoing it?! (Until the next day when you hurt?!) Has anyone else had pain in the lower left area as I described?
Is there something I could have torn or something?
Also, I feel so emotional...like I can cry at the drop of the hat! I still have my ovaries, so I don't understand why I feel like crying all the time?! Any input or advice??

Re: 6 days post-op, pain in lower left abdomen

I don't know about the pain in your abdomen, personally I'd call the dr. As for the emotional part, well that's a little bit easier to explain. Even though you kept your ovaries, when they operate they cut off the blood supply in order to seperate them from the uterus (learned that from Kim M) and it can take awhile for them to wake up. Since they were operating on the area of your body that produces most of your hormones it's only natural if things are a little out of wack for awhile. Sorry....and Good Luck!

Re: 6 days post-op, pain in lower left abdomen

I'm having the same intense pain in my lower left abdomen. BUT, I had my left ovary removed and they did a lot of work over there because my left ovary was adhered to my bowels. It hurts particularly bad when I laugh, and my BF is a very funny man. I told him he needs to stop making me laugh.

I hear you about the difficulties in resting. I'm not having much difficulty doing that since I have a lot of pain. But, remember, you only get one chance to heal. I think Jen6669 is correct about the emotional thing. Luckily, I haven't had that...yet.

IMHO, call your doctor when in doubt. They should have someone on call.
Best wishes in recovery

Re: 6 days post-op, pain in lower left abdomen

I have pains on both sides on and off also. It usually depends on my activity that day. I had my surgery on May 18 and my body definately lets me know when I have over done it. It's hard to stay seated isn't it? As stated by others, when in doubt, call your Doc. Better to be safe than sorry.

I TOTALLY understand the emotional stuff! I did the same thing. I thought I was loosing it! Jen6669 had a great explanation for that. It seemed to ease up in the last couple days so hopefully yours will too. Keep a chin up girl!
