I wouldnt have a hysterectomy, I need a do over!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish someone would've sat me down and told me how crappy I'd feel once menopause set in.. ITS HORRABLE, hot flashes are NOT flashes at all! I have hot flashes/cold flashes almost all day, I waking up in the middle of the night with hot flashes that sets off anxiety which causes a panic feeling. NOT FUN AT ALL.. Yes I have both my ovaries. I wish I had my periods and cramps back, I'd take pain over feeling like Im going crazy. Oh and my feet swell and get really hot feeling, I cant wear shoes in the winter, its flip flops all year round for me I just want my life back!

My heart goes out to you and those feelings. I have had some of them since my hysterectomy and they arent fun at all and it is awful feeling. That. When did you start these menopause feelings and have you seen your doc about them?

Summerheaven, you sound like I feel. I went to my doctor who told me that I had to ive things time to settle down and that my ovaries need time to go back to normal - which is fine but I WANT TO GO BACK TO NORMAL - I've bought some water tablets today and am going to see if they will help with the swelling feet and hands and stuff.

Hi ladies. Summerheaven I am so sorry that you feel as terrible as you do. Perhaps however this thread needs to be moved to the post op forum. Maybe there are ladies and other sisters there that are better able to help you with your feelings and frustrations.

Menopause is an unfortunate reality for EVERY woman...whether menopause comes naturally or suddenly with surgical menopause. Unless you have experience surgical menopause, having a hysterectomy in and of itself will not cause you to experience menopause. The procedure itself may cause your ovaries to temporarily "fall asleep" or hasten menopause, but the true reality is that we all will go through that phase sometime in our life.

My loving recommendation to you is to go to the "Post OP" forums. The Pre-Op Forums is the place that our little sisters go to look for answers and alternatives. As such since many of them are still in the inquiry stage and they may not have the answers you seek...but your sisters on the other side may have some suggestions and answers for you.
