Estradiol Cream?

Hello, I have an few more questions for the sisters.

Is there an Estradol Cream? Does it come in a generic? Has anyone been prescribed it to use to supplement the 0.1 Estradol patch?

Tomorrow will be 5 weeks post-op for me and I see my Dr. on Thursday. I've started a symptom diary as suggested and what I am finding is that from day 1 on the patch to day 4, I have depression and anxiety symptoms but they get better on day 5, I start to feel better. I'm on the Clamarra patch now but hope to change to the Vivelle dot for several reasons. My insurance pays for it and because of the size I can wear it front and back and don't have to wear it on my right side. When I do that it seems to inflame my hip injury (am I nuts?). I am hoping my Dr. will let me supplement on the bad days with the cream. Any thoughts?

Re: Estradiol Cream?

You are still very early post op. Your body is still recoverying from surgery and adjusting to life without the ovaries. IMHO, not sure that I would start adding something just yet, especially a day here or there. Your body will be in a constant battle of up and down.

If you do switch to the Vivelle Dot, please don't switch front to back. They say that absorption is about 20% on the backside, which means you will be getting more when you put it on the backside and less when you put it on your front side. What you should do is rotate right to left.

Re: Estradiol Cream?

Thank you Kim! What you said makes sense! Except for the mood problems I feel normal so I forget that it's still early for me. I'm sorry to hear that absorption is different front to back since I do think it makes my hip hurt a lot more when it is on that side but I will follow your advice. I truly hope I do better on the Vivelle dot since it is so much cheaper for me than the Climara patch.

It's also been suggested to me that since I have been battling depression for years that I increase my medication for 6 months. I'm on 50 mg's of Pristiq and that would increase me to 100 mg's. I hesitate to do this but if it will help I will. The first 4 days of every week feeling so depressed and crying is not how I want to live. If anyone has any thoughts on this they would be appreciated.
