Pelvic Organ Prolapse more prominent with abdominal or vaginal hysterectomy?

Found "something" embedded in my endometrial lining. Not presenting like a "typical" fibroid. Hysterectomy (uterus and cervix) decided upon due to family history of uterine cancer, both my mom and grandma. Anyone know if there is more risk of Pelvic Organ Prolapse with abdominal vs. vaginal hysterectomy? Thanks for any input.

I don't know the answer either, but I had a LAVH, and 4 years later had a grade 3 cystocele and grade 2 rectocele and a host of other issues that where just repaired.

Either way, we are at risk, because you no longer have the organs to support the bladder.

I think my doc mentioned that it may have more to do with keeping or not keeping the cervix. That the cervix helped provide extra support, but that is only higher up. Prolapse is basically a hernia, where muscles are weakened.

Hi,

Surgically speaking really well. The one issue I'm having is back to back bladder infections which were probably result of the catheter. First one was dx on 06/10/11 and I was on meds for 10 days. Was back at the Dr. yesterday and was complaining about loss of bladder control on 2 occasions, and spotting. He did a full exam and then urine test and it showed I still have an infection. It is being sent out to culture to ensure I'm on the right meds.

Separate of surgery, my recovery has been rough, I got really sick 6 days after (dehydration, bronchitis, bladder infection) with 103 fever, chills headache. Ended up in ER. Then a week later I was rear ended by someone going about 45mph. Now dealing with the neck and back issues from that.

I'm a little over three weeks out and surgically speaking I feel really good. My pelvic area is sore, but I'm realizing that is from the infections.

I had Davinci Sacrocolpopexy and a new sling put in. Some clean up as well, was in surgery for 5 hours.
