Perimenopausal - how do you know?

I'm only 32, but have been having hot flashes and stuff for a while now.

My surgery was last week, and he left my ovaries. So, why am I having hot flashes? How do I know if I'm perimenopausal? And I know for a fact my testosterone is higher than it should be, but nothing has been done about it. Not sure what my other levels are. I think I will demand some blood tests at my post-op appt. and that something be done. If I'm already menopausal at my age I'm gonna be pretty annoyed he left the ovaries. It probably would have made sense to just take them out too while he was already in there.....

Re: Perimenopausal - how do you know?

Hi Amy,

I too had my surgery when I was 32 and kept both ovaries. I had menopause symptoms the first night I was home. It was awful for 6 wks! My old gyne did bloodwork and it all showed within normal range so he wouldn't give me anything. After 6 wks I guess my hormones balanced out because I just woke up 1 day and all symptoms were gone. Maybe your hormones are a little off and it will take them a bit to kick in again. Do talk o your gyne and request bloodwork.
