Contact lenses

Two questions about contact lenses: I know I can't wear them the day of the surgery. But will I have any trouble putting them in myself the next day? What I mean is, will I probably be strong enough to stand at a mirror and put them in? (It takes 10 secs)

Also, one of my employees said she had to stop wearing her contacts (for good) after her surgery because her eyes were too dry. Has that happened to anyone else?

Do you have glasses you could take to hospital with you just in case you don't feel like putting in your contacts????

What type of surgery are you having???

I wear contacts and I put mine in the next day after surgery. ( I had my glasses for later the day of my surgery). I had no problem. They will have you on your feet fairly soon. I had my surgery at 9:00am and was up walking from my bed to the door that night. The next day I was out in the hall way for a "short stroll". My eyes were never dry. Ohhhhh I would die without my contacts! Your friend must have some other problem with her eyes. I dont know why surgery would dry them out indefiniately.

the mirror thing

I don't wear glasses, so you're probably wondering why the heck I am posting a reply! I just thought I would mention that those nifty lil tables that they put your lovely green jello, beef broth and orange popsicle meal on also have a vanity section with a mirror. It took me a bit to figure it out, but eventually my brain kicked in.

Dot, I'm having a TAH/BSO. Yes, I will bring glasses with me for the first day, but I absolutely hate wearing glasses and much prefer my contacts. I am legally blind without glasses or contacts, so it'll be a real bummer to wake up without contacts and not even know if someone's by my bed!

Contact lenses

Hi,
I wear contact lenses 24/7 and don't even own a pair of glasses. I didn't bother with contacts the day of the surgery for obvious reasons and was able to put them in the next day. I personally have noticed my eyes are much dryer than they were prior to my surgery (note, my skin is also much more dry). I've gotten to where I use the one day disposable contact lenses and absolutely love them.

My eyes were very dry before surgery and because I am home mostly I haven't even tried to put contacts back in. I have been wearing my glasses lately. To be safe I think I would bring both and you won't have to worry about it.
