adenocarcenoma stage 1a-was just told by oncologist that needed further treatment

Hi.
I went in for a TVH on 11/16 for what they thought was supposed to be adenocarcenoma in situ but turned out to be Stage 1A adenocarcenoma. Just went to a Gyn oncologist who felt that they need to go back in and take the nodes and tissue and remove part of the upper vagina.
They need to wait until my 6 week point and then turn my TVH into a radical. I have two young children. I'm 35 and I don't think I can take anymore. I can't stop crying. I can't take anymore.

Oh Denise , I am so sorry that this is happening
First of all try to take a deep breath, I know it is hard but we need to think clearly here.

What is the reason that they want to do this radical ? Is it a safety measure or are they concerned that there is cancer in the nodes ? It may well be all the extra treatment that you will need and that will be a plus if you dont need any chemo or radiation. It is unfortunate that they didnt do all of this with the hyster , I know . I have had part of my vagina removed and really it is ok. I was so worried that they were going to just keep removing parts of me til there were none left .

I know exactly how you are feeling , being told that the hyster was going to 'fix' the problem and then ' oh sorry , still more cells , we will try this '. But you must hang in there, you will get through this , I promise. Please dont forget that we are all here for you , sending lots and lots of love your way x x x

By the way, any old time you need to just come here. We love ya x x

It's okay Denise. Go ahead and cry, scream or whatever you need to so that you can get those emotions out. I know that it doesn't seem fair and the hyst was suppose to fix things, but you have to remember that being healthy is not always as smooth for some people as it is for others. Right now you will need to focus on getting yourself healthy for you and your children, and spouse. You deserve to be healthy and if this is what it takes, then please know that you are not alone. We are all here for you and we want to help you. I know that things seem so glum right now, but you have to try to look ahead with confidence. We will help you and send you prayers and hugs and cheer you on through this whole situation. Please know that we do care and want to help!!

DENISE, FIRST OF ALL NOW, TRY TO RELAX. I KNOW IT'S EASY TO SAY BUT, YOU MUST REMEMBER YOUR KIDS AND HUSBAND ARE BY YOUR SIDE.
IF THIS WILL PREVENT FURTHER TREATMENT, THAN YOU MUST SEE THE GOOD SIDE OF THIS. YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS AND I KNOW YOU WILL BE O.K. HANG IN THERE AND ANYTIME YOU FEEL A NEED TO VENT OR SCREAM OR WHATEVER, JUST COME HERE. ALL THE PEOPLE HERE ARE WONDERFUL, YOU CAN CRY ON US ANYTIME.

Oh Denise so sorry to hear you have to undergo yet more surgery. As the other ladies have said hopefully they are going with this so that additional treatment will not be requred.
Just wanted to offer you a few more hugs, and let you know we are all here for you!! You are stronger than you think Denise, and you will get through this. Its just alot to take in after already having your surgery we know. Please let us know how you are doing, and post here anytime.
