Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)?
I recommend that you see the Endocrinologist as your doctor suggests. Your weight gain can be associated with cystic ovaries (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) or possible a thyroid condition. I would check that out before agreeing to a hysterectomy. I have had hypothyroidism (low thyroid) since birth and at 26 was told I had polycystic ovaries. My periods were irregular, sometimes getting them only 4 or 5 times a year. Since you are good at the Internet and medical issues, why don't you look up the PCOS support group AND see the endocrinologist. You may find the problem without having to resort to surgery. Best of luck and keep us posted.
NOT A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL -- JUST ANOTHER HYSTERSISTER.
