I had a LEEP last Tuesday. The doctor told me what kinds of discharge to expect, but how long will it last? Is there anything else I should be expecting?

Hi gina, I had a LEEP procedure before my hysterectomy. I was told to avoid sex for 2 weeks at least and not to do any heavy lifting for 2 weeks.
I had a discharge, which lasted for about 4 weeks.
And as usual I developed complications which only happen in a very , very small percent of women ( Mrs 5% , they called me ) I had very heavy bleeding about 1 week after and had to have the wound painted with silver nitrate, which doesnt hurt at all . Other that there isnt much more I can tell you, pamper yourself you deserve it

Thanks Robyn - So my husband wasn't kidding when he said we should buy stock in Kotex...

It's been over a week now, and I've had almost no bleeding. The discharge has been very watery and I'm just so tired of feeling like I'm wearing a wet diaper... I'll stop complaining now as I know this is just the beginning of my journey.

I had a LEEP performed on 11/01/01. I had a little "spotting" for the first few days. After that, I had a watery brownish discharge that lasted about 2 weeks. I have to be brutally honest with you, It had a VERY unpleasant odor.

Thanks for being candid - I'm not finding much info out there about what happens after the procedure.

So, it sounds like I can expect another week of this... The odor is definitely not pleasant but I haven't noticed it too much.
