Unhappy - Somewhat odd question on hrt Somewhat odd question on hrt

Sparing all the details I had my uterus removed in 2007, right ovary removed 2008, and left one removed 2009. a little over two weeks ago went in to have cervix removed and they did an exploratory lap along with it and found a suprise...part of my left ovary was still stuck in there with the fallopian tube still attached.

So this leads me now to the question...
I have been on premarin since 2009 as it was assumed I had my last ovary removed. I had minor symptoms of what I thought was surgical menopause, primarily just a few hot flashes and some moodiness, but that may have been more from pain as I get pretty cranky when I am in pain.

So now I know for sure I really do not have anything left of any of my ovaries, I still take the same dosage of premarin, but it seems like I am having more emotional rollercoasters and hot flashes coming on. Should this be happening since I am treating this anyways because I was already taking hormones.

I am just really confused and not sure what to think. I don't even know if the part of my ovary left behind was actually making any hormones. So is it just emotions from having surgery and pain, or am I now really experiencing surgical menopause.

Re: Somewhat odd question on hrt

my great doctor who is an advocate of bio-identical hormones says at the 5 week mark you should have a hormome test (she says saliva). This will give you an update on your NEW hormone leves since your surgery. I've been having a few more hot flashes since my partial hysterectomy, so I'm inclined to agree that your body changes with these typese of surgeries and should be checked for new levels. best wishes ... B.
