suggestions on how to deal with a less than understanding hubby?

Hello ladies! I am 16 days post-op having a LAVH and uterine tissue removed from my left ovary and intestines. I have had a difficult time with pain and emotions, but not miserably. My Husband, usually caring and sweet, has had a huge change in the last week. He is unhappy with the fact I had to have a hysterectomy, and very unhappy because he doesn't like the break in the routine. He's not abusive, other than just very short tempered and doesn't understand my body is healing and really just wants things to "go back to normal." It seems he can't understand when I am in pain and my limitations. He hasn't went in with me on any of my doctor's appointments, and I don't have any other ways to explain to have him understand what I am going through right now. I didn't have a choice but to have my procedure on short notice and though at first was devastated, i am at peace and know its for the best. Do any of you have any suggestions in which I could help him to understand and still pamper myself so I can heal properly? I am in tears, because I feel like I am so alone...thank you everyone!!

Re: suggestions on how to deal with a less than understanding hubby?

I am sorry that you need to go through this. There is a link on this site for husbands, family, and friends. I found it helpful for me to be able to talk to my husband and older children. Is it possible for him to go to your follow up appointment? If not see if your doctor can give you printed material to bring home to your husband. I hope this helps. Hugs to you!!!
