"Mild Endo" but major pain......

Hi everyone.

I had a Lap done to check for, Endo on Nov 1, 2010. I was having mostly pain during our "Mommy Daddy time" and he found a small amount of Endo on my uterus. It was removed and I felt great for about 6 weeks. And slowly I started feeling pain again. At the time my ovaries looked fine, but now I am having constant pain in them. I am pretty sure a cyst ruptured the other night. My husband had to pick me up off the kitchen floor. I am also having a "tightening" feeling as well as a throbbing that radiates down my legs and around my back. It is horrible. I feel so stupid bc it was "mild", not "severe". So I guess I am asking if anyone has felt these same symptoms before and if anyone has been in this much pain with "mild" Endo? Thank you all

Re: "Mild Endo" but major pain......

sorry to hear about your pain i know how hard it can be to live with endo pain.
ONE of my many surgeries to remove endo i was told that they found a 'small amount of endo' i was in alot of pain before the surgery i really dont thik it matters how much or how 'mild' it is for us to have pain (at least it is for me)
hope you figure out whats going on and find some relief!!

If the problem is endometriosis, one thing to remember is that the stage of endometriosis does not correlate with symptoms or pain. In fact, there have been many women with flecks of endometriosis who were in far more pain than those with extensive endometriosis. It makes no sense!

However, I would also encourage you and your doctor to explore other reasons for your pain in case it is not endometriosis. One way to help figure out what is causing your pain and the best way to treat is to keep a very detailed symptom diary. There is a link to a couple different ones in the Resource sticky at the top of this forum.

in there and don't feel stupid at all! You don't have control over how much pain you are in or you wouldn't have any pain at all!

Re: "Mild Endo" but major pain......

I just found out I had stage II endo (called mild/moderate) but I can assure you the last 30+ years have been anything but "MILD" or "MODERATE" :P

Mine was excised, and I already feel so much better.

I admit when I heard "Stage II" I was like "um, seriously? that's it???"

Re: "Mild Endo" but major pain......

Same here my surgery showed very little endo and i have been in the most severe pain for the past 6 year to the point where i don't leave the house too much. Also when my pain came back 2 weeks later with my period the doctor i had at the time said "that's not possible i just did a surgery" unfortunately it looks like this is a problem that can require seeing several different doctors.

Re: "Mild Endo" but major pain......

I have severe endo with significant recurring ovary involvement. But no pain, thankfully. Everybody works differently. Don't give up hope.

Re: "Mild Endo" but major pain......

I am so with you on this! I've had many surgeries and a couple of times where I really expected to find out something horrific was going on, and the outcome was far better than it had been in the past. But then I've also had it where they were going in for a solid mass because of their concerns just about what the mass looked like, not having crazy pain outside of periods, and then being surprised because the endo was everywhere.

That was over 15 years ago at this point and it sounds like a key ingredient in finding a good endo Dr. these days seems to be having someone who understands that you can have considerably more pain than disease. I would imagine the wackiness of nerve pathways and the placement of disease must play a part in the whole thing. I also think it must be much more than a tolerance issue. I managed labor pains with more grace than I have my periods!

It's easy to say, God knows I don't do a good job of heeding my own advice on this, but do not beat yourself up over it. I've even found that the dull ache over days can drag me down more than the shooting quick pains sometimes. It's not the level of severity but duration that makes a difference too.

I don't know if you have explored it or not already, but acupuncture made a HUGE difference for me. It can be pretty expensive but incredibly effective.

Re: "Mild Endo" but major pain......

Just wanted to update since I now have my staging report. I only scored 6/40 which is barely Stage 2!!! Believe me the pain made me sure it was more severe! I think the pp is dead on about nerves and placement and I totally agree about even mild aching made me fatigued.

Re: "Mild Endo" but major pain......

I am right there with you. I am 29 just completed my 3rd laporoscopy for endo. I also am gonna schedule to get uterus out in October, due to my sever pain. I have had severe pain for over ten years. And it is back and taking over my life. I have mild endo as well. But everyone is different. You can have a sever case and have no pain or mild case and have sever pain like a very bad case. i have tried so many therapies, physical therapy, meds, ibuprofeing, pain meds and I am on pain meds now, i use a heating pad alot, I love my heating pad. I sleep with it on.
