What to wear to Hospital
Although I'm 3 days post-op, I wanted to give any one pre-op this little tid-bit. I bought the GRANNY panties 2 sizes larger than I am, as the sisters recomended! They worked great! And with swelly belly they actually FIT!!!! BOHO!!!!
But I wore a sleeveless sundress, loose fitting, to the hospital and home. Boy was that a blessing!. Had I had sweats or any other type of pants, they would not have fit! I had a LAVH and had sutures on my belly button and 2 on my C-section scar.
I just wanted to share that with you. Being that it's mid July a sun dress works very well. I've been wearing them or t-shirt dresses since I got home. Hope this helps all of my sisters out there! Stay well! It'll be over before you know it!

Re: What to wear to Hospital
Thank you Rosie,
My RN told me I should buy a spandex brief. Does that sound right?
I have never worn a sundress...lol
I was thinking of wearing my yoga pants home. Are we saying no to yoga pants then? My friend everhill said sundresses were the way to go too. My surgery is all vaginal (keeping ovaries) and they just need the laproscope part to put the sling on my bladder.
Urgh, I don't know what to do, a spandex brief to hold the stomach or just granny panties, or just the boy shorts I have now.
Sorry for going off...LOL
My mood swings keeps getting worse as I get closer to my surgery.

Re: What to wear to Hospital
I guess your doctor is trying to stop your belly from jiggling! I had the same surgery and my belly was so swollen that my size 9 cotton grannies were tight! What I would do is take them with you, but take some granny panties also. Leave them in the package so you can return what you don't use. I'm 3 days post-op, wearing my bikini underware, but they are not really fitting as usual. I gues if your yoga pants have room for a swollen belly, without being tight, they may work fine. The incision in the belly button is sore, not bad, as long as you don't touch it! The sundress was an after thought, while I was packing. I wouldn't consider putting on my jeans still, as of today. I wear sundresses all the time. It's been 100 here in southern NC. The less we wear the better. Hope this helps! Good luck!

I too, wore a loose fitting dress to the hosp. I didn't want to have to bend over to put my legs in. It was fantastic. Just slip over the head, no bending, stretching etc.

Re: What to wear to Hospital
I found the 'granny panties" to be very uncomfortable. Guess it's because I wear panties that don't really have an elastic and the GP's did. I switched back to my own panties after a few days and was much more comfortable.
When I'm not working I live in yoga pants, they are also elastic/waistband free. Wore a pair of yoga pants and an oversized v-neck t-shirt to the hospital, wore the same outfit home. Was able to hide my belly binder underneath; very comfy, felt like "me". Wore some slip-on shoes for ease.
Spent my recovery month in yoga pants & t-shirts. Now I've got plenty to wear to the gym as I work on getting this deflated belly off.
Good luck to you!

Re: What to wear to Hospital
Hi there... I had a DaVinci Hysterectomy 4 weeks ago. I needed some kind of underpant as I was wearing a pad so I grabbed a pair of my husbands flannel-type boxer shorts that he wears to bed. They were big enough to go past my incisions.. felt like they were up around my arm pits! But they worked. These are the shorts that are in the men's section usually on a little clip hanger and some have funny sayings on them and very loose and elastic waist. I wore a little caftan home from hosp and a chenille bed jacket.

Re: What to wear to Hospital
I brought yoga type pants to hosp. Couldn't have gotten into them if I tried. So glad I had the " merry mumu".(sundress) Hosp also gave me mesh panties to get home which were great. I'm in my own now but keep the front hung low so it doesn't rub incisions.
Didn't worry about shoes. Wore the slipper socks from Hosp.
I say wear what makes u comfortable. If it's a sundress - awesome. If it's yoga pants - great.
I'm not a nightgown person but have lived in them since Surg. Sent mama out to buy a couple. I found it easier to go to bathroom. If I dropped my pants I wasn't able to bend down and pick them back up, so nighties allieviated that worry.

Re: What to wear to Hospital
Thanks ladies,
I guess it make sense not to have to pull pants up after going to the bathroom, and getting dressed for that matter.
I guess I will get a couple of sundresses, some granny panties and a pair of spandex briefs. That hopefully will cover whatever mood I'm in.
You guys are awesome!!!!
PS, I already have 6 pairs of yoga pants, so those will also be my backups!!

Re: What to wear to Hospital
policebound, Just a suggestion....I am not a sundress or night gown person in any way, however at 3 weeks post op I have lived in my night gowns that hubby went and bought because he knew that nothing else would be comfy. With the heat that we are having, plus the bending, they have really helped. I also have elastic waist shorts to wear if I need to go anywhere. I also have teenagers so if I am still wearing the night gowns then they realize that mom is still not feeling good. When they see me in other clothes a light goes off in their brain that mom is feeling better. (That also helps hubby as well!!!!!! Sometimes their brains go off somewhere else as well!!!!
Good luck to you!
