Re: scared scared and really wanna back out

I know just how you feel. I have no idea how I will make myself walk into the hospital tomorrow morning. I still can't believe this is happening to me. I'm glad that the pain is bad right now otherwise I'm sure I would back out. I have so many fears and concerns right now I can't decide which one to focus on.

Re: scared scared and really wanna back out

I know how you feel. I don't have my date yet but I am terrified. And I have already had 8 surgeries (hysterectomy will be #10. I am having knee surgery in Aug)

I have had 3 c-sections and was fine before those but I am scared of this one and the pain I am going to be in

Re: scared scared and really wanna back out

I am not surprised that ladies haven't responded to your situation here in Pre Op. Catamenial pneumothorax is a more rare condition that not many know or understand. However, we do have an Endometriosis Support forum where you would be most likely to connect with others who either have experienced this condition or who know more about it.

Personally, and I have a stage IV endometriosis diagnosis so I do know quite a bit about endometriosis, if I were in your shoes I would not go into OR without an endometriosis specialist and a lung specialist of some type. A hysterectomy is not a cure for any type of endometriosis. In fact, removing the uterus may have little or no effect at all. The oophorectomy could impact the endometriosis, but again, it is not a cure either. For one, any endometriosis that remains can continue to be a problem. Did your doctor share with you that endometriosis implants can create their own supply of estrogen?

The key for treating any kind of endometriosis is the actual eradication of the endometriosis itself, something not many doctors can do because 1) they don't recognize it, 2) they don't have the skill to remove what they do find, and 3) even when they try to remove it the method they use is such that endo is left behind.

By the way, if you haven't found it already, there is a website dedicated to your condition that you might find helpful:

I wish you all the best for whatever you decide! Don't hesitate to pop over to the Endometriosis forum where we have had some discussion about CPT as well as endometriosis of the diaphragm and lungs.

Re: scared scared and really wanna back out

@ weiser, I do know this hysterectomy is not a cure, I was on HRT and ended up bleeding (am still bleeding) for 5wks going on my 6th. My cycles like many others are really bad these last five yrs so I might still have the lung and diaphram issues, I think it will be a relief to not have to deal with a never ending cycle anymore .. All possible measures have been taken for my surgery on tuesday as far as any lung collapses that could happen.. since my vats surgery in April havent had any collapses, My lung surgeon is aware of this surgery, worst case is I will wake up with a chest tube.. I am not 100% sure of anything at this point, I feel that I tried Hrt first like my lung surgeon and gyn told me. made things worse I feel.. I do appreciate all your opinions as I am not confident in my own most of the time..

Chelle shocked- I will be thinking of you as well. hope things go very smooth for you..

Re: scared scared and really wanna back out

Wow what an ordeal! I didn't know what that was either until I looked it up.

I hope your surgery and recovery goes well. I have my pre-op physical that same day.
I'm glad they will have all the specialists your conditions require. Big hugs to you!
