Sage for Hot Flashes

Hi Ladies,
My sis just sent me some info on how to treat hot flashes. She knows I prefer the natural remedy if I can get it. She came across this in a magazine that suggested sage. I haven't tried it yet but thought I'd pass it along if you would like to try or consider it.
Good luck to all!
Lannie

SAGE
How to use:
Steep one tablespoon dried sage in one cup of hot water for 15 minutes or longer to make a tea; strain and cool. Drink up to three cups a day. If you don't like the taste, put the tea into a spray bottle (after cooled) and spritz it on your neck.

Why it works:
Sage has been passed down from generation to generation in Western herbal tradition as the surefire cure for hot flashes. It's such an effective astringent that it has been approved in Germany as a treatment for excessive sweating for both women and men. Sage was also used in Native American cultures.

Re: Sage for Hot Flashes

Add me to the list of those who want to know if it works. I was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple weeks after the doc cleared me for normal activity last fall following my hysterectomy. I can't take HRT, as the breast cancer is the type that feeds on estrogen and progesterone. Tamoxifen seems to only add to the hot flashes and night sweats.
