So Confused...when to take progesterone?

I was taking progesterone prior to having my uterus removed due to fibroids (I was estrogen dominant). I would take the progesterone starting on day 10 of my period and stop the day before my period was due.

Now, since I won't be getting a period, how the heck do I know when to start taking the progesterone?

Re: So Confused...when to take progesterone?

I had fibroids and complex hyperplasia. I took progesterone every day just for 6 weeks while waiting for surgery for a different reason than you. Stopped taking it after surgery, so I would ask your Dr if you still need to take it.

Re: So Confused...when to take progesterone?

Did you keep your ovaries? If so; you may not need the progesterone. You may need to give it some time to see how you're going to feel. Good question to ask your doctor.

Re: So Confused...when to take progesterone?

Yes...I kept my ovaries...I'm hoping I won't need the progesterone. Maybe I won't be as estrogen dominant since in some cases it seems the ovaries don't crank out as much hormones once the uterus is taken out...of course doesn't that mean there would be less progesterone as well being cranked...?

Also...when they measure estrogen and other hormones...don't they go by which phase of your menstrual cycle you are in to see where your numbers measure up? How do you know which phase you are in if you don't get a period???
