Ugh....I am so frustrated

Monday I have my 6 week appt which cant happen soon enough. I was great the first three weeks then surgical menapause took over my life. My Dr. put me on 0.3 0 Premarin which seems to control the hot flashes and the night sweats but I still suffer from insomnia something awful. Average about 2.5 hours a sleep a night so needless to say I am dragging at this point. This past week I staryed to have a headache that will not go away. I ache all over, nausea sets in and last about an hour after I eat. I just feel horrible which is so disappointing because I thought at this stage I would be feeling better. Looking for words of wisdom from those that have been there and so I make sure I ask all the right questions at my appointment. Thank you ladies!!!!

Re: Ugh....I am so frustrated

Hi!

I'm sorry that you're dealing with so many symptoms.

You're early in recovery when it's normal to have menopause symptoms, even though you're using hormone therapy. That said, your doctor has you on a very low dose and it's possible that increasing your dose will help you feel much better. Write down your symptoms and keep a daily journal to share with your doctor at your next appointment. Your doctor can adjust your dose, if necessary, and that may make all the difference in how you feel.

Let us know what the doctor says, okay?

Re: Ugh....I am so frustrated

We both had surgery the same day and I started Premarin .625 at about the 4.5wk mark...the headaches I had, which are just like you described, are gone. The hot flashes are still there, sometimes pretty bad, but for the most part, very manageable. The insomnia seems to be slowly getting better, I say this only because I just had my 2nd night of more than about 4hrs sleep. I can't seem to shake the body aches though...unfortunately this is a side effect of premarin which some say will go away after a few weeks of taking it. I know they say it takes a little time but it can be very frustrating. I wish I had some advice as far as questions go, but...we're both still new to the game. I hope you start feeling better soon and your doctor is receptive to how you're feeling.

Re: Ugh....I am so frustrated

Thanks Gacki. I am sure she will up my dosage and that will help with the insomnia. I'm trying to remain positive that the day will come where I will be able to sleep for more than 2.5 hours of sleep a night. Things seem to be much easier to deal with when you're well rested but when exhausted it makes thing impossible to deal with. Glad you are improving on the Premarin with the exception of the body aches. Hopefully they will go away too. Good luck and again, thank you!!!
