Re: Surgery Monday-- one piece of advice for me?

Oh yeh, feel free to store away your bras and wear something nice and silky underneath your shirt. That helps a tender belly and makes you feel good too.

Reading your posts, you are on the other side. But, for anyone reading this to get prepared for their surgery: get the abdominal band, have your pain meds picked-up and home, start walking as soon as your are able, have water to drink always available, have stretchy pants for weeks of swelly belly.

Re: Surgery Monday-- one piece of advice for me?

Thank you to everyone who posted their helpful comments! This really did help me prepare for the big surgery! So far, it hasn't been as bad as I anticipated-- BUT I have overdone it with activity and am paying for that a little bit.

My biggest piece of advice is echoing what I've already heard here: EVEN IF YOU FEEL OKAY AFTER A FEW DAYS, CONTINUE TO TAKE IT EASY!

10 Days post-op now and not feeling awful!

Amen! Had my surgery day after you with first follow up yesterday and received stern instructions to do nothing for myself for another week at least! Its hard to do nothing for ourselves, but in the end our bodies will thank us for it. I can't tell you how many of the dr.s and nurses kept making comments to both me and my husband about how I looked so good to have just had such major surgery, when I realized I looked like the exception I slouched back into a more comfortable position and quit pretending it didn't hurt to stand and walk like that and stopped acting like I wasn't give out from the 30 min ride there and walk up to their office. Hey we can't all be a hero and the fact is im just not there yet

Re: Surgery Monday-- one piece of advice for me?

I just got home from the hospital today. Let me repeat what others have said. REST and drink LOTS of WATER! It's the #1 thing that will allow your body to heal quickly.
Relax, take a deep breath and smile. Everything will be fine and we are always just a keystroke a way.

XO :-)
