2 glasses down and 6 more to do; bowel prep

I started my bowel prep at 3pm. I've gotten 2 8oz. glasses down and have another 6 to go. And I have to say, it ain't bad. I mixed it together last night and put it in the refrigerator. I thought this was going to be bad, but it isn't.

I'm trying to keep my mind off tomorrow, but it creeps back in.

You are in my thoughts...I'm just a couple days behind you (Friday)...I'm glad that the bowel prep isn't bad so far, but, I have a feeling it hasn't started "working" yet. From what I've heard, once it hits you, it's like, "whoa" and non-stop RUNNING to the bathroom. My surgeon actually apologized in advance for the bowel prep when I saw him for pre-op this week...I am SO not looking forward to it!

Nothing has 'HIT' yet. I've gotten 3 glasses down and started about 45 min. ago. I decided to started earlier in the day so I wouldn't be up all night. I just hope there isn't any stomach cramps.

I am having the Davinci Hysterectomy on September 8th and have to start the bowel prep almost two full days before..not looking forward to this part at all..I can have clear liquids even Popsicles..any one else have to go through this?? seems like a long time with no food and why the bowel prep for a hysterectomy?? I can see it for a colonoscopy but not the other.

I have to start the bowel prep 2 days before too. My daVinci is scheduled for this Friday. On Wednesday at 6 pm, I have to drink the Magnesium Citrate but can continue to eat normally til midnight (honestly, how much do I really want to eat NORMALLY if it's gonna be flying out of my behind for the next 2 days...hmmm??!) Then Thursday is liquid diet all day, and at 6 pm I have to drink a 8 servings of Miralax, then nothing after midnight.

The reason for emptying the bowels is because everything is pretty close together and there's a risk of them nicking your bladder and/or bowel during surgery. If the bowel was not clean, it would be BAD. Also, if the bowel and intestine's are empty, they will fall away from the surgery site, minimizing the risk of them getting in the way.

I started mine at 1 pm, four pills every 15 minutes with 8 oz of a clear drink. Well I started off with apple juice and finally couldn't manage anymore so switched over to water. Now 11 trips to the bathroom later and still going, things are getting downright painful down yonder. All I can say is for those that still have to go through this buy those soft wet wipes for the loo, it helps ALOT. My op is tomorrow at 9 am but have to be there at 7 am, I do wish this was all over with already. Anyway my best wishes to you Hygienist999 and that you recover fast, and to all the ladies in waiting. You will all be in my prayers

Does EVERYONE have to do bowel prep. for a hysterectomy, or does it depend on the wishes of a particular doc.?

Glad to know it dosnt taste two bad, Im also on Friday..pre op Wednesday
