Hyster. 9/20, Disney 10/25. Will I be okay?

I'm new.
I have a surgical date of Sept 20.
I already have my vacation on Oct 25 paid in full.

Should I be okay by then? I know it's like over a month after my surgery, but I didn't know.

It may depend on what type of surgery you are having. Have you talked to you doctor about this? It would also depend on what your doctor has to say.
I do hope you are able to go. If it is not possible could you reschedule your surgery until after your trip?

I'm not sure what type of surgery I'm having. I go back 5 days before my surgery for my pre-surgical consult so he can go over all that with me.

I feel really stupid for not knowing what type I'm having, but I just found out this morning that I'm having a hysterectomy to begin with.

I know that everyone is different but my doc told me that I will need 6 weeks. I would def ask your doc if it's okay to travel. Are you flying?

Re: Hyster. 9/20, Disney 10/25. Will I be okay?

Hi. Yes, I'm flying. I'm planning to take it really easy when I go. I'm starting my walking and eating clean from now until my surgery hoping that it will help me in recovery.

I've been bleeding every day since I had my unsuccessful ablation 5 months ago. My choices are go about a month after hysterectomy (which I now know is lvh) or go with constant heavy bleeding and cramps. Even medication the gyn gave me doesn't stop the bleeding at all. It's bizarre.

I would ask your dr just to be sure. My husband and i went to Disney in April and believe me, you do a lot of walking. I don;t know if you will be strong enough. A month really isn't a lot of time.

Re: Hyster. 9/20, Disney 10/25. Will I be okay?

If your doctor clears you it could be doable. make you rent one of those scooters instead of walking. Also it will help if you are staying at a hotel in the park so you can go back to your room and rest. You will get tired and sore very easily. Your husband should be prepared to cart the kids around on his own if you need to rest. Disney is exhausting even when you are feeling 100% but if you dont mind hanging back and missing some of the sites it might be ok.

This is exactly what I was going to say.

Renting a motorized scooter is a great idea! Standing in those long lines could be torture only a month after surgery, and there's a LOT of walking to get from one part of the park to another.

How long are you going to be there?

Re: Hyster. 9/20, Disney 10/25. Will I be okay?

I can rent a scooter? I've seen people with scooters there, but I thought you needed to have a medical reason to use them.

Do they rent them in the parks for the day? I'm concerned about being singled out by having to have the busses take time to load and unload me. Using them in the parks won't be bad, but not the whole loading, securing in and unloading me.. especially since I won't look like I need a chair.

If I do have to rent a scooter for a week to save money, will I have to have a handicapped room? Can regular rooms fit the scooters. I requested building 5, 3rd floor at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Do they have just regular wheelchairs without the electric scooter part? DH wouldn't mind pushing me around.

I don't have little kids. My children are high school and college aged.

Even if your Dr, clears you in 4-6 wks, it all depends on how you feel. I can tell you I am 3 mo post op on 9-1 and I couldn't walk Disney at this point due to still having bladder discomfort and pelvic pressure,,we've been there several times and it's fun and exausting...Good luck on your recovery...
