scheduled soon (pregnancy and children mentioned)

hey everyone! Ive been stalking this website since i found out I have to have surgery. You all are so helpful and dont hold back how your experience went and thats just what I need.
I'm 25, 2 kids ages 6 and 3. Married for 7 years to my best friend
I have history of chronic ovarian cysts, endometriosis and pelvic pain. My last few visits were with a doctor that truly cared about my problems. Not only did he tell me about my current issues but he told me about problems that I didnt even kno I had. I've tried every treatment possible wih no relief and just couldn't tske it anymore. I know you ladies know how bad it feels not to be able to run around with your kids or having to rearrange your life because of pain. My doctor told me that my uterus is completely flipped upside down. My 3rd (firdt child) and 4th (second child) degree episitomies weren't done or repaired properly. He basically said I have the body frame of a 12 year old and should've never given birth vaginally. Because of this my vaginal walls and rectum are shattered. So along with my hysterectomy , I'm having my bladder tacked and my vagina and rectum reconstructed. I have a lot of scar tissue in every place that he will have to remove. Because of my age, hes going to try his best to leave my ovaries and ckean them off.
I am excited to sed how this surgery changes my life for the good but so scared. I feel so betrayed by the doctor I used for 8 years and delivered my children. All the "new" stuff I learned about my self explains so much of my pain and why my pregnancies and deliveries were so rough for me. Both children were 35 weekers and were 7lbs2oz and7lbs 10oz.
anyway, so Sept 7th seals my fate. I know this was all over the place but right now so is my mind lol! Any and every detail of advice you all can offer me would be sooo greatly appreciated. I want the good, the bad and the ugly. The forums are super helpful but I havent seen much about rectal reconstruction? Maybe I missed it.. Thanks a bunch in advance!

Re: scheduled for sept 7th.

Hi Sara!I am 27 years old and have 2 small children.I am 7 weeks post op .I had a vaginal hysterectomy.I know for me this was the best decision I could have made. The only pain I have now is from an ovarian cyst. That pain is tolerable compared to what I was dealing with for 10 years. The worst part of my recovery was infection.I had a UTI(which is fairly normal after this type of surgery)and a vaginal infection around my internal stitches.

My best advice for you is to follow your doctors orders.Drink plenty of water.Walk as much as tolerated after your surgery(this helps with gas pains).I wish you the best of luck and am sending hugs your way.

Re: scheduled soon (pregnancy and children mentioned)

We are glad you have found us and I hope we are able to offer you helpful information and support!

The site is filled with articles, resources and personal experiences so take some time to look around!

We do have an Endometrisois Support forum you may want to check out as well! Since a hysterectomy, with or without an oophorectomy (removal of the ovaries) is not a cure for endometriosis, you will find both pre and post hysterectomized ladies posting there.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to post them and we will do our best to answer based on our experiences and research!
