anyone plan LSH but due to scar tissue have TAH?

My friend had been scheduled for an LSH but during surgery due to scar tissue the doctor ended up doing a TAH. I was wondering how prevalent this is. I had 3 c-sections and a tummy tuck so I have my share of scar tissue. I'm wondering if they can just move the trocar to a spot without scar tissue. Anyone go through this? Thanks!

Re: anyone plan LSH but due to scar tissue have TAH?

This is certainly a subject I would talk to the DR about if you are concerned that this could happen to you.

I had a VH w/repairs on Mar.22. On May 3, I was supposed to have a DaVBSO with repairs, but due to scar tissue and adhesions, the DR decided to do the second surgery abdominaly. He didn't want to risk causing more damage. He is fairly new at doing DaVinci, so I am grateful he made that decision rather than going forward and have an issue during surgery. Hindsight being 20/20, if I would have known this would be my outcome, I would have had everything done in one abdominal surgery. I have never had any other abdominal surgery (other than Lap Gall Bladder), so all the adhesions had to have come from the first surgery. It could happen, but this doesn't necessarily mean it will happen to you. And it may depend on the DR, and how many of these surgeries he's done as to wether he would continue with a surgery under these conditions.

I did fine with the ABSO, even though I also had the 5 DaV incisions along with a 5" bikini cut. It is a longer recovery, so I really hope all goes well for you, and you can have the LSH if that is what you have scheduled. Best wishes!
